Dodgers Whip Cards 8-0

Preacher Roe carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and shortstop Pee Wee Reese jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI at Ebbets Field as the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8 to 0. Roe(9-2) was virtually untouchable. He allowed just 2 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.46. The left-handed Roe lost his chance for a no-hitter when Red Schoendienst singled with nobody out in the 7th inning. Brooklyn had 14 hits for the night. George Munger(6-3) absorbed the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 7 innings of work.
