Wynn Shuts Down White Sox 1-0

Early Wynn shut down the Chicago batters on just 3 hits at Municipal Stadium where the powerful Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago White Sox by the score of 1 to 0. Wynn(13-2) was tremendous on the mound for Cleveland. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 3.05 to 2.83. Cleveland had only 4 hits for the afternoon. Ray Scarborough(3-9) was given the loss. He surrendered just 4 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. 'Wynn gave us exactly what we needed tonight,' Lou Boudreau said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
