Doby Powers Tribe Over A's 11-2 (Game 1 of DH)

Larry Doby connected with a 'big fly' and had 6 RBI as the streaking Cleveland Indians topped the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of 11 to 2 at Municipal Stadium. Doby had a great day at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move. He lofted a three-run bomb (his 6th of the season) in the 1st inning, smacked a single scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning and doubled which scored a run in the 8th inning. Cleveland had 9 hits overall, while Philadelphia had 6. The winning pitcher was Bob Feller(8-4) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Dick Fowler(0-5) ended up with the loss. 'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've paid off,' Doby said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on it.'
