| Ray Boone had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the red-hot Cleveland Indians defeated the Philadelphia Athletics 12 to 3 at Municipal Stadium. Boone enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He slapped a base-hit in the 2nd inning, tripled in the 4th inning, tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning and laced a base-knock knocking in a run in the 6th inning. For the game Cleveland out-hit Philadelphia 14 to 8. Sam Zoldak(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 4 and 1/3 innings and allowing 1 run. Bob Hooper(1-5) was tagged with the loss. He was unable to control the Cleveland offense and allowed 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. No one has been able to stop Cleveland lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 7 games. |
