Roberts Ends Phils Skid 5-3

Robin Roberts tossed a complete game at Connie Mack Stadium where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Boston Braves by the score of 5 to 3. Philadelphia came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Dick Sisler started the rally when he laced a single. Del Ennis stepped up next and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. Philadelphia rapped out 8 hits for the night. Roberts(12-11), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Vern Bickford(15-9) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings. 'I struggled a bit out there tonight,' Roberts said, 'but I toughed it out and we got the win.'
