Tribe Beat A's in 9th Inning Rally!

In a thrilling finish the Cleveland Indians won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Philadelphia Athletics by the count of 8 to 7. Cleveland came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 5 hits. Dale Mitchell led off and started the rally when he stroked a single. Mitchell stole second with some aggressive base running. Lou Boudreau then stroked a one-base hit. Larry Doby followed and he doubled. Al Rosen stepped into the box and lined a single. Luke Easter added his contribution to the rally and tripled. Cleveland dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings. The winning pitcher was Al Benton(1-2) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Carl Scheib(1-9) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'We just wouldn't give up,' Joe Gordon said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.'
