Phils Nip Bucs 3-2

19,817 fans were treated to a fine game at Forbes Field as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The sizzling Philadelphia Phillies won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Philadelphia had 1 run cross the plate in the top of the 7th inning. After an out was recorded, Mike Goliat ripped a solo home run (his 8th of the season). Bob Miller struck out, unable to help the rally. Pittsburgh had 10 hits in the game while Philadelphia had 5, but Philadelphia had the more timely hits. The winning pitcher was Miller(6-6) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. Miller was helped out by Jim Konstanty who recorded his 14th save. Bill Macdonald(4-8) was tagged with the loss. This win by Philadelphia continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 9-1. For the season, they are 48-41. Pittsburgh can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.
