Indians Whip A's 8-2

Steve Gromek had a strong outing at Municipal Stadium where the Cleveland Indians beat the Philadelphia Athletics by the score of 8 to 2. Gromek(1-1) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't give up much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Cleveland out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 11 hits to 3. Harry Byrd(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. Steve Gromek came through with a solid 7 innings as the Cleveland Indians
defeated the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of 8 to 2 at Municipal
Stadium.
 
Cleveland brought 4 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning with
the help of 4 hits.  The big moment was provided by Joe Gordon who brought
the crowd to their feet when he smacked a single scoring two baserunners.
Cleveland had 11 hits overall, while Philadelphia had 3.  
 
The victory went to Gromek(1-1) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Harry
